Concrete FAQs

Are you looking for a guide to easy concrete ordering and supplies? At DSD Concrete, while we’re always on hand to provide advice, check out our FAQs below for some quick answers to your burning questions.

Our concrete sets in the first 24 to 48 hours after it’s been poured. While we understand deadlines can be tight, never disturb or walk on the concrete until it’s fully set or you could affect the quality of finish.

If the concrete has been poured from our lorries into wheelbarrows, the concrete needs to be placed in the correct site within 90 minutes (or 1 hour if it’s warm weather).

Concrete shouldn’t get wet while it’s fresh in the first two to four hours after it has been poured. If rain is forecast or you want to ensure the concrete remains protected, make sure the area is covered, e.g. with waterproof sheeting.

We kindly ask that any cancellations are requested with as much notice as possible. If it’s raining, you can stop your order, but this needs to be made by 2pm the previous day. Same day cancellations will incur a charge.

To work out how much concrete is required for the job, measure the width, length and height of the pouring space in metres. We also have a handy concrete volume calculator to help you. This can be useful if you need a quote to work out potential costs.

As we supply mixed onsite concrete, our volumetric lorries will work out the exact amount of concrete used for the job, so you’ll only pay for what you have used. Should you require more concrete, we will do our best to accommodate this request. For large jobs, we can send out multiple trucks if required.

If you would like to order concrete, you can contact our office on 01825 704 500 and we’ll arrange it for you. We offer same and next day deliveries. We can also prebook specific days/ times for the coming weeks if this is required.

We try to accommodate your needs wherever possible, providing a 2-hour window to our customers so that you know when to expect us. If you need a more precise time slot, we can confirm this closer to the time – just let us know.

We offer a range of easy payment methods for all concrete orders. This includes cash on delivery, bank transfers and card payments. Please note, we don’t accept cheques.
